Nightfall with Nancy

I'm a huge fan of soundtracks and scores.  There are so many instrumental songs that evoke strong emotions in me, this is one of them:  John Murphy- Adagio in D Minor, from the movie Sunshine (which I highly recommend).

I love when things just come together.  Especially when it pertains to my photography.

This shot was taken over six months ago  on a gorgeous 70 degree October night.  Let me restate that...70 degrees, at night, in October, in Wisconsin....amazing.

Nancy and I had been wandering around the Fox River Trail, working on an assignment for class (which we both succeeded in of course :)).  As we meandered discussion evolved, from school, to passions, to family, to life; fantastic conversation took place.  The sun was beginning to set and Nancy accompanied me to a spot I had seen a few weeks before where I was fairly certain there was potential for a great shot.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky which worked perfectly with the tranquil feel of the overall image.  I took a few snaps, and we talked.  After a while Nancy left; I stayed and watched while the last of the light and color from the sun disappeared into twilight.

Close Encounters of the Barkhausen Kind

We heard a ton of this while walking and I think it's amazing: Ruffed Grouse Drumming (turn it up, it's low frequency).

Nick and I visited the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve twice last week. If you like a scenic walk through the woods I highly recommend their nature trails.  We walked the (approx.) 4 mile trail, here's some shots from our meandering...

You can't see me...

This was the first time I've seen a crane relatively close, pretty awesome!

His Other Love

Some awesomeness in your ears: Rage Against the Machine- Sleep Now in the Fire

It's pretty obvious that Nick loves me, I mean we are getting married in 5 months so that must mean he at least likes me enough to stick around :).  However that does not mean that I am the only love in his life, there's a little bit of space reserved for something else... his 4 wheeler.

This post is all about Nick and his Banshee...

That last picture is one of my favorites ever :)

Good Coffee and Goodbyes

For your ears: Lucy Shwartz- When We Were Young.

Elsie is like the sister I never had, definitely the Sam to my Frodo. She's a ridiculously talented painter and writer (she probably cringes at my horrible grammar when she reads my posts lol) and is one of the most selfless people I know. This past week she and her family escaped Green Bay and moved to Madison. This called for a cup of coffee at The Attic before she got the hell out of dodge :)

Although I am sad it won't be a quick drive to hang out with her anymore, Madtown really isn't that far away and is an awesome place to visit!  I sense a Madison trip blog entry in the future :)....
